Kettlebells can be very expensive, so the idea of getting a few for the price of one was appealing. After receiving the product I used it for about three weeks. Aside from being noisy as the plates clank together, it was fine. Then the handle started to get loose. I thought to myself, okay no problem, I’ll just tighten it back up. Took off the plates to look at the screws and saw where they must have skimped on the cost of the production. The top is a plastic plate which the handle screws into. The screws are at a nearly impossible angle to tighten. I finally found a way to angle in a bit from a ratchet set, and the screws stripped — they too are cheap. I returned the product at once. I’ll be damned if the handle is going to come off this thing mid-swing, especially after paying $200. Look for Kettlebells USA online and get the real deal. You can still get two or three kettlebells for the price of this one, and they don’t take up THAT much room. Nice try Weider, but you gotta make it silent, sturdy, and easy to fix in order for this to be remotely worth it.

Well I was really excited when I got my Powerbell a couple weeks ago. The kettlebell workouts definitely get the heart rate up and give you a total body workout. Unfortunately, the Weider PowerBell has an odd shape to it compared to normal kettlebells. Making certain moves, like the snatch and the rack, a little difficult. Notice I said ‘difficult’ and not impossible…it just takes a little tweaking in the technique/form.
But the biggest flaw, is how fragile it is. Considering the types of moves you do with these things, like the mid-air hand switch shown on the included DVD, you would expect them to be pretty tough. Well, just this morning, doing a the mid-air hand switch I missed…and it smashed to the ground right on the handle and broke into about 10 pieces. Luckily, I got it from Walmart, and I got a full refund.
Other than that, I really do like the clever design, I would just recommend to anyone that does purchase it to avoid the mid-air hand switches and flips that you may see in some videos. Stick with the basic moves and it should give you a pretty good workout. JUST DON’T DROP IT!

I purchased the 40lb model about a month ago and it works great. the biggest problem that people seem to have is when you bring it up to the position where it comes down on the back of your arm. granted this does hurt, but i think i have come up with an inexpensive way to deal with this that takes care of the problem. purchase a pair of ladies slip on slippers. cut an opening in the toe slip it over your hand it hooks between your thumb and fore finger with the the rubber bottom of the slipper facing up on top of your arm. add a fairly heavy rubber band or somthing of the like. now you have instant arm protection. it works great! if your working out at home who cares what it looks like. hope it works as well for you as it does for me.

An excellent product allowing my wife and myself to do kettlebell exercises using a weight appropriate for each of us. The DVD is great also with concise explanations and a short but effective exercise routine. Get wrist guards before using the kettlebells–makes a big difference in comfort while learning techniques.

I really enjoy the Weider adjustable power bell. Though it’s cylandrical (as opposed to a regular kettlebell’s more rounded) design can make it a little tougher when it rests on your wrists (because of the corners diggin into you a bit)it is quick and easy to use and can really give a great work out. Especially for your lower back!
The instructional DVD that comes w/ it though is a bit of a joke. The instructor spends more time talking about how great the bell is than in its practical applications and uses. (I obviously already bought it, you don’t need to sell it to me again!) I would have enjoyed getting more exercises than just the basics he goes into and that didn’t happen. Also, he has the personality of a rock and seems to stumble over his sales pitch constantly. Once again, more work out and less sales would have worked.
Overall, I think it’s a great value for the price and I use it constantly…
I was introduced to kettle bell workouts by my ex-boyfriend. He’s gone, but I still use the kettlebells
they’re amazing for calorie burning. Simply questioning if there is a simpler fat burning and muscle toning (constructing) exercise around? Btw, love the site!
Adding any type of resistance to your workout will burn more fat and calories than doing cardio alone. An easy way is to try resistance bands. They’re light weight, inexpensive and you can take them anywhere which makes them great if you’re traveling. Also, because they come in different resistance levels you will be able to get toned and burn calories without investing in heavy weights.
