How to find the motivation to exercise?

I exercise somewhat but I want to exercise more. The problem is I never have enough motivation. What is a good motivational technique? I’m thinking of taking a picture of myself in a bikini and taping it next to a bikini model…any other ideas? Thank you in advance!

Eating healthier can give you the energy to work out! You may also want to find a friend to exercise with, you can also think about all the times when you wanted to fit into something and you couldn’t and cried! The bikini thing sound good too!
find a partner to work out with. It does help.
That could work, or you could do something you enjoy. Like I enjoy horseback riding, so That’s my form of exericse.
Go play tennis
go swim at the lake/pool
Go for a run.
Try to set goals for yourself. It helps you want to reach those goals by that time. Or try to make working out more fun. If it’s a lot more fun for you, then you’d want to go more often.
The way i got motivated to exercise was i watched the show The Biggest Loser and just saw wow these people are 300 -400 pounds over weight and im only say 20-30 pounds if they can do it then you surly can
tell yourself your fat,and try to have a future goal where being fit is required, your idea is ok to
i be like i needa do more so if some one tries to runs up lol
just think of being on a beach on holiday and you want the perfect bikini body. or just keep imagining what you want to look like.
I think you might find that if you force yourself to do it for just a few days & you start to feel it in your muscles, you’ll get motivated to go on with it.
I take pictures of myself shirtless every sunday and store them in a folder on my computer.
It’s hard to have motivation when you don’t have energy, make sure you’re eating right and sleeping a good amount.
Maybe it’s the form of exercise. I used to jog everday and I couldn’t stand it, I switched to riding my bike and now I’d go far enough to describe it as "fun".
I think your idea is a good one! It’s the desire to look like a model that’s can keep you going. Also weight loss stories are all over the place! Seeing the before and after pictures always helps me. Best of luck. PS: Walking the malls is a good one, especially in the winter.
I always feel motivated right after… So anyway I turn on music that I love that makes me pumped or whanna dance, then I visualize my self really tan and with nice pecs and a 6 pack at the pool and all the ladies love me, so then I do 450 situps and like 50 pushups, and 200 lifts with each arm on 10 pound weights.
lol… yeah your a girls so just imagine your self skinny, tan and at the pool with all the guys wanting you!!
ahahahhaahahaha lolololol
Good luck!
look at yourself naked in the mirror everyday and weigh yourself.
And just an FYI…once you get to a weight you are happy with, weigh yourself every day or two to make sure you aren’t going up or down. Any healthy skinny person well tell you that truth and understanding of your weight will keep you fit. That will be motivation enough.
hey there
. taping your picture against a models bikini shot will lower your confidence in your fitness and make you question your beauty, i am sure this is not the best way to motivate yourself. To motivate yourself
Hope you find your solution!
you should visit a GYM (i know what your thinking.. but wait). you will see plenty or men and women sweating in the gym. getting fit and drinking bottles of water, Everybody is focussed on getting fit and getting their bodies in shape. the first time i visited gym. i had a induction, i felt so empowered after my visit, the instructor showed me how to work each and every one of the equipment. he let me know what foods i should eat to build abs and muscle, and told me i looked very ill and thin when i came in. I now look rosy, i feel fitter and i am very motivated, you don’t need to visit the gym to exercise, once you go the first time you will feel empowered to buy equipment for your home.
It always helps to have a "workout buddy"…at least to get started. Once it has become a part of your routine, after a few months you feel as though your day is incomplete if you don’t get to the gym. Try to switch up your routines all of the time so that you look forward to getting to the gym. I reference the internet and countless magazines for different routines.
As for the posting of a picture I would say that you should just post a picture of you in a swimsuit and if your not happy with what you see it should work to get you to the gym, but I would not suggest posting another person’s picture next to yours. You should become happy with your own body, not having to compare it to somebody else, especially a "model".
Once you hti the gym for some length of time you will notice a change in the overall way that you feel and the way that you feel about yourself. At that point you will want to maintain such an outlook and the gym will almost become mandatory for you to continue feeling this way about yourself.
it is hard at first, i know!
but what helps me is to keep a packed gym back in my car, so i don’t have an excuse not to go. sometimes i have no motivation but i just make myself go and keep telling myself over and over i will feel better after. and i do feel better after i have worked out. even if i think i am too tired i just make myself do it. like the old nike adds: "just do it." it is hard but once you get started it is easier. i also like to schedule it into my day, so it is part of my routine.
what does keeps me motivated is when i start seeing results! if you add weights to your routine you’ll start to see for example your arms getting more sculpted. and that may help keep you motivated.
good luck!
Well, there are several ways to get motivated.
1) Good music. If you find the right song, you can keep on trucking for hours at a time. The wrong song can actually have the opposite effect.
2) Set goals, short term and long term. Long term is what you are working towards overall, while short term is what you want to accomplish that day/week.
3) Reward yourself. If you reach one or more of your goals, have something that you can do whenever you finish. It makes you want to reach you goals that much more.
Last) Baby steps and moderation. If you start off to hard or advance to fast, you might fail and get mentally discouraged, leading to more failure.
Good luck with your exercise.
Reward your self with 1 unhealthy meal or snack a week and only give it to yourself if you exercise an average of 45 minutes a day. If you miss one day you’ll have to make it up on another day in order to meet your goal.
Start tracking your workouts. keep a google docs spreadsheet or something. when you enter a bunch of good weeks in a row you’ll likey have more motivation to keep it up so that you don’t ruin the streak that your on.
Always remind yourself that it’s okay to make mistakes.
Give yourself permission to make mistakes. It’s perfectly okay. You’re only human. Even the highest achievers in the world make them. In fact, everybody makes them. (Make the decision ahead of time, before speaking in front of any group, that you will allow yourself to make mistakes…to look awkward or foolish.)
Basically, what I’m suggesting is that you go out there and do your best, or give your all, while at the same time, know that you are willing to forgive yourself (and willing to continue to accept yourself) whatever the outcome may be. It does not make you a bad person or a fool if you make mistakes unintentionally. (If you do it intentionally, then that’s a different story. Besides, who in their right mind would “plan” to make mistakes in advance?) Learn from your mistakes, then move on.
By giving yourself permission this way, you will become more relaxed. Why? Because what creates tension, stress, or nervousness in the first place is when a part of you is saying, “You must be perfect. You must do this perfectly. You can’t screw up no matter what happens or else people will see you as a failure.” While another part of you just wants to naturally go with the flow…not giving a care for anything. This kind of inner conflict (between the different parts of you) is what causes tension, stress, or nervousness.
Hi there,
Well done for keeping fit in the first place. You have taken the hardest step, don’t underestimate your achievement already.
Taking photos is a great way to get yourself motivated, do it. Pin them on the fridge and bathroom.
You also need to have solid goals. Such as lift more weight the next week, do more reps, run further, always have a goal for each workout.
Experiencing growth and development can be a great motivator
